Theming: What’s the point?

Race to build the revealed Inuit-inspired stone marker, called a Tukilik, from coloured stones and snow blocks.

Players

  • Tuki supports 2-4 players.
  • Everyone builds simultaneously, so speed matters only after the structure is correct.

Setting up: How to get started?

  1. Give every player one colour’s stones and snow blocks.
  2. Shuffle the Tukilik cards and prepare the card stand and die.
  3. Choose the difficulty level and card side specified by the rulebook.
  4. Select the first Scout as directed by the setup rules.

Rounds and Phases

Build simultaneously

  1. Reveal a Tukilik card in the stand.
  2. All active builders recreate the pictured structure with their own pieces.
  3. The structure must match the card’s front view exactly; hidden depth does not excuse a visible mismatch.
  4. The first player to finish calls out and is checked.
  5. If correct, that player takes the card. If not, play continues for the other builders.

Scout and ties

  • The Scout checks finished structures and, in the relevant player-count modes, may sit out of a round.
  • If several completed structures must be compared, use the rulebook’s checking order and tie procedure rather than awarding a card for speed alone.
  • The player who wins a card may become the next Scout, depending on the player count and round result.

Scoring

When a player earns a fifth Tukilik card, play the decisive final round. The finale differs between 2 players and 3-4 players, so use the appropriate rulebook procedure instead of assuming that five cards is an immediate win.

Terminology

  • Tukilik: the target marker shown on a card.
  • Scout: the player who reveals and checks the target in applicable rounds.
  • Stone / snow block: the physical pieces used to reproduce the target.
  • Front view: the visible silhouette and colour arrangement that must match the card.
